Articulations

Music Glossary: articulation.

Common articulations can be added to a note using a dash (‘-’) followed by a single character. Here is a small table of the most important articulations.

-^a marcato (an upward-pointing wedge)
--a tenuto (a short horizontal line)
->an accent (a right-pointing wedge)
-.a staccato dot
-_a portato (i.e., a tenuto line combined with a staccato dot)
