3.17.2 Easy Notation note heads

The `easy play' note head includes a name inside the head. It is used in music for beginners 

     \setEasyHeads
     c'2 e'4 f' | g'1

The command \setEasyHeads overrides settings for the NoteHead (lilypond-internals) object. To make the letters readable, it has to be printed in a large font size. To print with a larger font, see Setting global staff size.

If you view the result with Xdvi, staff lines may show through the letters. Printing the PostScript file obtained does produce the correct result.
